Century names Shuford president and CEO
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 2, 2008
Hickory, N.C. — Alex Shuford II has been named president and CEO of Century Furniture, a job he has handled on an interim basis since the departure of Bob Maricich in late January.
Shuford also remains president and CEO of CV Inds., parent company of Century Furniture and Valdese Weavers.
"Century has a seasoned management team in place and a business model that is working," said Shuford. "We were pleased with our 2007 results and believe that our efforts to leverage the strengths and flexibility of our North Carolina manufacturing facilities will continue to be appreciated by our many dealers and ultimately by the high-end consumer."
Shuford managed the upholstery side of Century for nearly 30 years. He grew up in the business, which was founded by his father in 1947, and has been active behind the scenes in helping to shape the company's current strategies.
Maricich, who had led Century for 11 years, left in January to become president of the World Market Center in Las Vegas.
