Tempur-Pedic chief leaving

Lexington, Ky. — H. Thomas Bryant, president and CEO of mattress manufacturer Tempur-Pedic, has announced that he plans to retire in the middle of this year.

Bryant, 60, joined the maker of visco-elastic foam mattresses and pillows in 2001 and has been CEO and a member of the board of directors since April 2006. He said he will work with the company to ensure an orderly transition to a new CEO before his retirement.

The board of directors has formed a committee to lead the hunt for a new CEO and has retained an executive search firm.
