FRIANT, Calif. —
Scott Smalling and Dave Brummett, two well-known bedding executives, have joined the Specialty Sleep Assn.'s board of directors.
Smalling is president of the specialty sleep division at Simmons, while Brummett is vice president of product development at retailer Mattress Firm, based in Houston.
Dale Read, president of the SSA, welcomed the new board members.
“The SSA is thrilled to have one of the leading manufacturers in the industry recognize the importance of our organization by joining the board,” Read said of Smalling's appointment. He added that the SSA is pleased to add Brummett to its board because the group “understands the importance of retailer involvement” in its organization.
Smalling said his goal in joining the SSA board is “to help create a sustainable platform that will foster innovation, support our manufacturers and improve sleep quality.”
Brummett said, “I am looking forward to exploring the opportunities and possibilities that the SSA has as it continues to make a larger impact on the bedding industry. Bringing a retail perspective will hopefully add value to that initiative.”
