Web site offers original sofa designs
Will explain strategy at High Point Market seminar
Ray Allegrezza -- Furniture Today, March 5, 2010
STRANDA, Norway — An innovative Web site, Furnituredesignmarket.com, will make its debut at next month's High Point Market.
According to CEO Ole Hjellegjerde, the site is the first global marketplace that links retail buyers to original sofa designs from designers around the world.
Buyers visiting the site can access a database of original sofa designs. They can order any designs they like, which will then be produced by Furnituredesignmarket.com's production facilities in China and Norway.
Hjellegjerde said that Norway facility makes "higher-end goods" while the China facility produces the remainder.
Products made in China are shipped from ports in Shenzhen and Qingdao, while the higher-end goods are shipped from western Norway. Goods can be shipped to 33 ports in 20 countries.
Buyers can order mixed containers.
Hjellegjerde added that designers receive a 5% royalty for each of their products sold on Furnituredesignmarket.com. The royalty fee is included in the FOB price quoted to buyers.
To offer additional information, Furnituredesignmarket.com is hosting a breakfast seminar during market at the String & Splinter Club, 305 W. High St., High Point, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday April 20.
Hjellegjerde will explain the company's concept and will identify opportunities for buyers and, designers.
