New Classic to expand product line

Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, March 9, 2008

Case goods importer New Classic Home Furnishings will add occasional and upholstery to its expanding line of product categories.

The company said it plans to launch six to eight occasional groups and six to eight upholstery groups at the July Las Vegas Market.

Occasional offerings will cover a variety of styles and will include end, cocktail and sofa tables. Upholstery groups will include sofa, loveseat and chair combinations.

New Classic didn't give specific price points, but said they'd fall in the lower-middle to middle range.

Upholstery offerings will include one exposed wood frame group and also could include some leather and motion pieces, the company said. The upholstery will easily mix and match with the tables.

The tables are meant to match styles and finishes in the company's home entertainment lineup to help create a uniform living room setting, said Michele McPherson, New Classic general manager.

In addition to master bedroom and home entertainment, the company offers youth bedroom, which has grown from two to nine collections in the past year. It also offers home office, a category launched in 2006.

The goods are produced in the company's 3.6 million-square-foot dedicated source factory in Guangzhou, China. The facility has undergone a number of expansions in the past several years and is about 85% operational, McPherson said.
