ATLANTA — Lawton Bennett, who formed a manufacturers' rep group selling contemporary furniture in the Southeast, has died.

After graduating from the University of Miami with a degree in finance, Bennett had a brief career in the airline industry, but moved into the furniture business as an operations officer with Mangurians and Levitz Furniture.

Bennett and Co. had a showroom at AmericasMart for more than 25 years, where Bennett served on the board of advisors for many years.

Survivors include his wife, two daughters and two grandchildren.

Donations can be made in Bennett's name to the Boy Scouts of America.
