LENOIR, N.C. — Steven Lusty has been named president and CEO of specialized furniture carrier Furniture Transport Group.
He is replacing David Brenner, who recently retired.
Lusty had been chief operating officer of Integrated Freight Corp., a long-haul, regional and local carrier. He earlier worked as a consultant for numerous transportation and logistics companies.
"Steve's background in a variety of freight sectors, including distribution and brokerage operations, and his considerable experience in successfully integrating transportation companies make him the ideal executive to lead FTG into the future," said Louis Massood, a board member of FTG.
FTG was formed in 2007 with the merger of MGM Transport, Caldwell Freight Lines and Foothills Trucking Co. The company acquired Lance Transportation in 2009.
"FTG has the potential to be a truly great company, but it requires putting everybody on the same path, with the same vision," Lusty said. "We have to re-establish the focus back on what made each of the four companies successful in the first place, beginning with listening to our customers' needs and providing services in the most efficient manner to meet those needs."
