In the marketing job, he replaces former Marketing Director George Kaftan, who left the company. Case goods merchandise manager is a new position for Carls.
Daley has more than 35 years of industry experience, most recently as merchandise manager of furniture and home theater electronics for Morris Home Furnishings in Dayton, Ohio. Before that, he was executive vice president and general manager of the former Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Breuners Arizona Home Furnishings from 1994 to 2007, and general merchandise manager for Elder Beerman Department Stores from 1988 to 1994.
"Tom has a great reputation in the industry," said Carls President Jeff Baker. "He is very knowledgeable of the middle and upper end products, and the challenges of retailing in a seasonal community."
"With the team of Tom Daley and Mike Nicotera (hired in 2008 as vice president of merchandising) I believe we have the best merchandising team in Florida."
Daley and Nicotera report to Baker. Carls operates 10 south Florida stores, including an outlet and a Carls Mattress Super Store, the latter attached to its full-line store in Stuart, Fla.
