Theodore Alexander sets Keno Bros. furniture line

By Heath E. Combs -- Furniture Today, March 8, 2010

High-end case goods manufacturer Theodore Alexander has signed an agreement with art and antique furniture experts Leigh and Leslie Keno to produce a furniture collection.

The Keno Bros. collection will be based on the brothers' love of antiques and vintage modern furniture, a press release said. Its 40 pieces will mix traditional and modern styling to appeal to a broad range of ages and lifestyles and to collectors of furniture.

It will be unveiled in the Theodore Alexander showroom at 301 Steele St. at the High Point Market, April 17-22.

“Their impeccable standards with respect to quality and construction mirrored our own, and their incredible knowledge of furniture and design made the entire process a pleasure,” said Harvey Dondero, CEO of Theodore Alexander.

The brothers achieved celebrity through the PBS series “Antiques Roadshow” and in 2003-2004 were hosts of the PBS show “Find!”

Since 2008, they have hosted the video series “Collect This! with the Keno Brothers” on MSN.

Leigh Keno owns and operates Keno Auctions in New York. Leslie Keno is senior vice president and director of American furniture and decorative arts at Sotheby's in New York.

They have published a book on antiques and have written monthly furniture and design columns for design magazines.

The brothers were awarded a National Humanities Medal in 2005 by President George W. Bush. Award recipients are selected by the president for lifelong achievement in areas of expertise.

Theodore Alexander's other licensed collections include the Althorp Living History collection.
