INDIANAPOLIS — National Casegoods will bring a line of Murphy beds to next month's High Point Market.
It's part of the company's new strategy to produce and market furniture-quality Murphy beds, which fold up against a wall with the aid of an easy-lift piston mechanism, for sale through furniture retailers.
"This new line offers retailers the opportunity to present customers with an attractive product they want, in a setting where they are comfortable shopping," said Chris Fahy, director of sales and marketing for National Casegoods. "Even if Murphy beds have never been in a retailer's regular lineup, our program is so simple and straightforward they can get started immediately."
The company's product line can be seen on its Web site at nationalcasegoods.com, although the product will only be sold in stores, Fahy said. The company will put a store locator on its site, he said.
He added that as a category, many Murphy beds have suffered from bland design, inferior materials and antiquated mechanisms. National's products are made with real wood and come in five collections, all of which will be on display in High Point in Showplace, space 2136.
Suggested retail for the beds will range from $4,298 to $5,298, although stores can discount from there, Fahy said. Matching side storage cabinets also are available. The beds come in twin, full and queen sizes and take conventional mattresses, which can help spur mattress sales, he said.
"We are extremely proud that our products are made right here in the United States, utilizing American materials and American manpower," Fahy said. "We think it is equally important that we maintain a high level of environmental consciousness. All of our plywood products are CARB Phase II compliant and sourced from sustainable forests. In addition, all of our finishes and coatings are free of hazardous air pollutants."
He also said there are no minimum orders and short lead times from the Indianapolis factory.
