SFC to offer Designing Green 2010 course
Will take place during High Point Market
Gary Evans -- Furniture Today, March 17, 2010
HIGH POINT — The Sustainable Furnishings Council will offer an hour-long course, "Designing Green 2010: New Policies, Products & Procedures," during the High Point Market.
The event, sponsored by Cisco Bros. and Toray Ultrasuede (America), will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Cisco's Mill Village showroom, 1013 Mill Ave., High Point. The course, which offers one CEU for interior designers seeking education credits, will be followed by a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
The course will be presented by Jeff Hiller, LEED-CI/AP-certified president of the SFC, who developed the content for beginner and intermediate sustainable interiors practitioners as well as for retailers selling eco-friendly home furnishings.
"The idea is to provide real tools for growing business through green product options," said Hiller. "Any interior designer or dealer who wants to improve both top and bottom line can benefit from this unique High Point Market event."
The course highlights key developments in sustainable and green interior design and includes an assessment of current environmental issues, government policy and new legislation. Consumer awareness for eco-options, buying interest and purchase motivations based on the latest research also will be covered.
In addition, an overview of product-based solutions in home furnishings and interior treatment will include furniture, upholstery covers, such as the 100% recycled polyester Ultrasuede EcoDesign, paint, flooring and lighting categories.
