HIGH POINT — High Point University is accepting registrations for its Social Media Marketing Seminar for the Home Furnishings Industry, set for April 7.
The seminar will cover how social media marketing can be used to reach present and potential customers, and what it can and can't do for a manufacturer, retailer or interior designer.
Leslie Carothers, president of the Kaleidoscope Partnership, a social media agency for home furnishings and related industries, will be the keynote speaker. She has been in the furniture and interior design business for 27 years and works with companies to create, train and execute social media campaigns.
After her presentation, a group of High Point University students, as representatives of Generation Y - the industry's future customers - will tell how they can be reached via social media sites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
Other presentations throughout the day will be from experts in manufacturing, retailing, interior design and social media. Participants will include Maybelline Te of manufacturer Snug Furniture, Wanda Horton of Charlotte, N.C.-based Interior Concepts by Wanda, Christy Brown of retailer Furnitureland South in Jamestown, N.C., Nick Iauco of Brand Intelligence Group and Mitch Miles of 26.2 Group.
The cost is $25 for the entire day. Details and information on how to register are on the seminar Web site at www.furnishings-hpu.com.
