Trade panel to review China duties

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, March 22, 2010

The U.S. International Trade Commission has voted to conduct a full five-year “sunset review” of the antidumping duty order on wooden bedroom furniture from China.

The commission will decide whether revoking the order would lead to continued material injury to domestic wooden bedroom furniture producers.

The review is taking place because it is the fifth anniversary of the imposition of duties on wood bedroom furniture imports, which took effect Jan. 4, 2005.

In the original case, U.S. authorities determined that unfairly priced Chinese-made wood bedroom sets caused injury in the form of job losses to the domestic industry.
