Elite Leather, Nathan Turner team up on uph. line
By Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, March 23, 2008
Los Angeles — Custom leather upholstery specialist Elite Leather has teamed up with designer and furniture impresario Nathan Turner to create an upholstery line.
Inspired by Turner's world travels, the Nathan Turner for Elite Leather collection is his first licensing venture.
The domestically produced 20-piece assortment will feature sofas, chairs and ottomans dressed in leather and fabric. It will be introduced at the High Point Market, which opens April 7.
Turner's store on North Almont Drive here has served the upscale Los Angeles design community including decorators and celebrity clients since 2003. He combines a mix of worldly furnishings with his own creations. Inclined toward casual European themes, Turner's designs exude a bohemian quality, according to Elite Leather.
"We are elated to work with someone of Nathan Turner's caliber," said Gabrielle Galardo, Elite vice president of marketing. "Not only does he have great business and design sense, but his fresh perspective promises to add charm and character to our line."
Turner added, "Design is something that should be infused into every aspect of modern life. Elite Leather and I share the same goals of creating distinct design with timeless style, while striving to uphold a certain standard of product quality. I am thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Elite Leather and tap into its broad consumer audience."
Elite Leather, a 45-year-old, third-generation, family-owned leather seating producer, also continues its first licensing venture with New York textile designer Lulu DK.
