Platinum Décor to distribute Brazil's Tissot line

Will be North American debut for manufacturer

NEW ORLEANS — Importer Platinum Décor has agreed to distribute furniture from Brazilian manufacturer Tissot, marking the line's North American debut.

Platinum Décor is the new North American distributor of the Tissot line, which includes this Arqueado bench featuring an aluminum stand and a top with zebrano veneer and high gloss, polyester finish.

Tissot is known for its high-gloss finishes and exotic Brazilian veneers, said Mickal Adler, president of Platinum Decor. The line includes some 250 SKUs, about 40 of which will be on display next month in Platinum Décor's High Point Market showroom in the International Home Furnishings Center, space M-439.

Tissot, known as Idea Tissot in Brazil, produces contemporary and transitional designer-oriented occasional chairs and tables, dining room and entertainment furniture in a medium to high-end price range. A cocktail table in the line typically retails at $1,600 to $3,200.

Tissot has a factory in the mountains of Gramado, Brazil, and recently acquired two other manufacturers and retail distribution in South America. It has also added property for the expansion of its factory.

Platinum Décor plans to develop a U.S.-based sales force for the Tissot line. The items will be warehoused in High Point. Platinum Décor plans to show it at other markets in addition to High Point, with a focus on design centers.

At the High Point Market the company will sponsor a drawing for a Rolex watch.

The principals of Platinum Décor, which is about a year old, include Adler and Artistic Director Francel Goude. The company also distributes home accents.
