Hall of Fame taking nominations

Entries accepted until May 15

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 1, 2008

HIGH POINT — The American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation is opening nominations for new candidates to be inducted into the American Furniture Hall of Fame later this year. Only members of the organization are eligible to nominate, second and vote.

“We encourage everyone in the industry to play this vital role in honoring and preserving the record of accomplishment of our industry’s great leaders,” said Don Coleman, president of the AFHF Foundation. “It is one of our greatest responsibilities to future generations, as well as a great privilege afforded to members of the American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation.”

Members may make nominations between April 1 and May 15. Ballots, along with a list of nominees and their biographical information, will be mailed June 18 and members have until July 31 to vote. The winners will be announced and inducted at the AFHF banquet on Oct. 21 during the fall High Point Market.

Nomination forms and lists of current members, previous nominees and inductees are available on the AFHF Web site at www.furniturehalloffame.com. Printed copies of the documents are available by calling (336) 882-5900.

To make a nomination — including a re-nomination or posthumous nomination — AFHF members should complete the Nomination Form found on the Web site at www.furniturehalloffame.com and prepare a written biography of 500 words or less. A print or digital 300 dpi photo of the candidate must be enclosed.

All nominations must be seconded, in writing, by another AFHF member. There is a one-time nomination fee of $500 to cover the costs of the nomination process.

The completed nomination package must be postmarked no later than May 15 and sent to American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation Inc., 202 Neal Place, High Point, N.C. 27262.

AFHF Memberships are $500 for an individual and $1,000 at the corporate level, and contributions are tax deductible. Checks should be made payable to American Furniture Hall of Fame Foundation and sent to the address above.
