HIGH POINT — Sandy Dant has been elected as the 72nd president of the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn.
Dant, a multi-line representative for Furniture Transport Group and Signature Designers Rugs, has been a member of IHFRA since 2000.
She served as president of Home Furnishings Representative Guild of Southern California from 2001 to 2002 and also was a liaison between the Guild and the California Furniture Manufacturers Assn. during that same period.
She started her career as a sales representative in 1986 selling rattan furniture. In 1990 began selling contemporary upholstery for Jackson of Danville. Over the years, she has received awards and certifications including salesman of the year for Carson's of High Point and the Certified Home Furnishings Representative certification.
She also has co-chaired the City of Hope West Coast Committee and has been a member of the National Home Furnishings Board for the City of Hope. She has been on IHFRA's executive committee since 2007.
Joining Dant on the executive committee now are Ed Myers, Tri-State Home Furnishings Assn., board chairman; Mark Scharff, Metropolitan Furniture Assn. of New Jersey, first vice president; Mike Root, IHFRA member-at-large, second vice president; and Christopher DeLisa, Greater New York Home Furnishings Assn., secretary and treasurer.
The award will be presented April 16 - the day before the official opening of the High Point Market - at the IHFRA Presidential Gala and Awards Dinner.
