JOLIETTE, Quebec —
Contemporary upholstery source Couture International has hired Philippe Couture as chief operations officer and Darrin Royer as vice president of sales. Both are new positions.
Company founder Normand Couture remains creative director. André Lafleur, who helped found the company in 2007, has left to pursue other interests.
Philippe Couture, Normand's son, will manage day-to-day operations from the corporate headquarters here. Royer, who is based in Los Angeles, is responsible for sales and marketing activities in North and South America.
“We are pleased to have two gentlemen with such strong and diverse backgrounds join our company,” Normand Couture said in a statement. “We have worked very hard to set clear growth objectives and feel that we have a strong team now to get the job done.”
Philippe Couture most recently was the controller of a division of paper goods manufacturer Cascades. Royer had held sales and merchandising posts with upholstery producer Lazar Inds. and fabric supplier Morgan Fabrics.
Couture International serves clients in more than 12 countries with a broad range of fabric and leather contemporary upholstery that is designed by Normand Couture and manufactured in Asia. Its products also include upholstered beds.
The company has warehouses in Los Angeles, Montreal and Lexington, N.C.
At this month's High Point Market, the company will introduce several upholstery groups and gallery programs in its showroom on the seventh floor of the C&D Building.
