FRIANT, Calif. — Sleep Studio CEO Michael Rothbard has joined the board of the Specialty Sleep Assn.'s Green Initiative.
“Michael brings a fresh perspective on consumer needs coupled with a wealth of family business knowledge. We are pleased he has accepted our invitation to join the Green Initiative governing board,” said SSA President Dale Read. “We are excited to have Michael on board helping achieve our goals for transparency in marketing and consumer education.”
The SSA's Green Initiative was created to identify definitions and terminology, as well as existing standards and certifications that apply to the mattress industry. These include components and finished products, plus how mattress manufacturers and retailers label “green” products and define eco-friendly sleep.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Jason Phillips and Jerry Cohen have joined the WithIt board of governors advisory team.
Phillips is vice president and creative director of The Phillips Collection and founder and president of Jason Phillips Design. His work has won several awards, and he also sits on the boards of other industry associations.
Cohen, a partner in a law firm, handles financial, commercial and intellectual property matters and offers counsel on strategic alliances, licensing, marketing and distribution agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, among others. He also writes a blog for Furniture/Today.com.

Durham Furniture
DURHAM, Ontario — Solid-wood bedroom specialist Durham Furniture has named Rodney Hayes as its new sales representative in Atlantic Canada.
He succeeds the late Dave Pitt.
Hayes brings 20 years of experience to his new account having worked at the retail level before opening his own sales agency 13 years ago.
He is based in Quispamsis, New Brunswick, and represents several other lines, including casual dining producer Canadel and value-added specialist Phoenix AMD International.

HIGH POINT — Studio 323, which provides photography services to the industry, has hired Emily Ann Banks as an account executive.
Banks is a veteran in the photography industry and specializes in home furnishings, small products and graphic design. Before joining Studio 323, she worked with The Alderman Co. and Albion Associates in a similar role.
“We are very pleased to have Emily join our talented staff and look forward to the high level of creative projects she will bring to our portfolio,” said Hugh Turbyfill, co-owner and operator of Studio 323.
