Heath to head Pearson Co.

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 8, 2008

ST. LOUIS — Pearson Co. executive Mike Heath has been named president of the high-end upholstery manufacturer to replace Sam Boyd, who will retire this month.
Heath most recently has been director of marketing and regional sales manager for Pearson, and has held other positions in finance, sales and marketing for the company.
“Mike has over 27 years of experience in the furniture industry in the Lane and Pearson organizations,” said Daniel Bradley, president of the Designer Brands Group of Furniture Brands International, parent company of Pearson. Bradley said he believed Heath “will grow the Pearson brand promise in the design community and with our consumers.”
Boyd has been president of Pearson, which has been a part of Lane, for 17 years. He has worked for Furniture Brands International and its predecessors for 38 years.
“He has done an outstanding job of maintaining the brand image and ensuring that the Pearson legacy of high-quality upholstery, combined with personalized service to the dealers, has remained an integral part of the business,” said Bradley. “Pearson has consistently performed very well under Sam’s leadership and he has worked diligently to develop a staff that is prepared and capable of maintaining that continuity.”
