McKay joins Protect-A-Bed as EVP of sales

David Perry -- Furniture Today, April 6, 2008

Bedding veteran Larry McKay has joined Protect-A-Bed in the new position of executive vice president of sales. The 30-year bedding veteran was most recently president of Comfort Solutions and earlier worked at Sealy, Spring Air and Serta.

"Larry McKay has extensive experience in the bedding industry," said Lawrence Hirson, Protect-A-Bed principal. "His extensive contacts can help us in additional distribution channels in the U.S. and overseas."

"My job in the near future will be to help the sales team open new retailers in both current distribution channels and alternate channels," McKay said. "I am excited to be part of the management team of a successful and growing company like Protect-A-Bed. In just eight years, they have grown to be far and away the market leader in the mattress protection industry."

McKay, who will be based here, will report to Hirson.

McKay said Protect-A-Bed's success has been driven by "innovative products that provide real benefits for the consumer and great profits for the retailer."
