Metro casual

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 6, 2008

With many consumers favoring the look and functionality of today's designs but restricted by smaller living spaces, manufacturers are offering downsized versions with big style. These laid-back, no-nonsense, yet still-attractive upholstery and case goods pieces avoid clutter and frou-frou. The wood or metal finishes are subtle, and the hardware and other accent touches are toned-down and scaled back. Upholstery seating configurations are tighter with narrower arms. These streamlined designs target city dwellers, apartment dwellers, first-time homeowners, second home owners and others with limited room.
