Pepper Berry, Lorts using EarthCare Inside parts

Hickory Springs program offers eco-friendly components

HIGH POINT — Lorts Mfg. and Pepper Berry are the latest companies to introduce products using the eco-friendly EarthCare Inside program from components supplier Hickory Springs.

Both are incorporating environmentally friendly components throughout their furniture lines.

Lorts produces custom-made bedroom furniture as well as hardwood dining furniture, occasional pieces, armoires and home office wall units. It is showing at the High Point Market, which runs through Thursday, in the International Home Furnishings Center, H-1104.

Pepper Berry offers a range of fabrics and custom upholstery choices. It shows in High Point in the IHFC's InterHall, space 501.

The EarthCare Inside program was developed by Hickory Springs to offer furniture manufacturers environmentally friendly components including seat cushions made from its soy-based Preserve foam, springs forged from recycled steel, webbing woven with 100% recycled Repreve yarn, and back cushion fibers fashioned from recycled content.

"We are pleased with the expansion of the EarthCare Inside program as companies embrace sustainable products in the manufacturing process," said Dwayne Welch, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Hickory Springs. "It is the right thing to do for the long-term health of the industry and the environment."
