Knackstedt to address IFDA
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 17, 2010
HIGH POINT —
Forget “business as usual” if you're in the design industry today, warns industry consultant and best-selling author Mary Knackstedt, who will present her cautionary tale to fellow members of the International Furnishings and Design Assn. in a Webinar on May 5.
“If you think business is going to be like it was last year, forget it! Everything has changed, from your clients to the craftspeople and other resources you have always relied upon,” Knackstedt said. That means designers will have to change quickly to stay competitive in an industry that is largely dependent on disposable income, she said.
Knackstedt is the author of nine books on the business of interior design.
Her Webinar, “Understanding the Changes in the Design Industry Today — And the Opportunities,” will be the third in a series made available by the IFDA Educational Foundation through the Schoenthal IFDA Leadership Forum. Details will be posted on the IFDA/EF Web site at www.ifdaef.org.
