Tier-two bed producers showing luxury, latex

HIGH POINT —
Tier-two bedding producers are bringing a wide variety of models to the market here, including new two-sided beds, more affordable luxury bedding offerings, and a number of new latex models.
The introductions illustrate that Top 10 bedding producers have plenty of company from producers who are no less aggressive about growing their business in what is expected to be a rebound year for the industry.
Jamison Bedding returns to High Point with a showroom bristling with bedding, including the new Talalay Latex Collection, retailing from $999 to $2,599.
“We're very proud of this luxury line of latex products,” said Ken Hinman, Jamison's vice president of sales and marketing. “The TLC line features a range of designs and feels that employ both softer and firmer latex cores and layers, as well as the same high-quality foam we specify in all of our Marriott products.”
Jamison also is adding three models to its licensed Hypnos line, retailing from $1,199 to $1,399. “Ultimately, our objective this market is to extend the reach and availability of these first-class, one-of-a-kind products,” said Adrian Jones, director of sales for Hypnos. The new beds offer significantly lower price points than the original models.
Gold Bond continues to focus on two-sided beds. New this market is the Sacro-Support Imperial, retailing from $799 for firm and plush and $899 in pillowtop.
“We are excited about showing more of our customers how Gold Bond has always been the leader when it comes to the value-driven, two-sided mattress,” said Bob Naboicheck, president. “The Imperial brings back the attraction of the hefty, heirloom-quality mattress that offers twice as much bedding for your money.”
EcoSleep, as its name suggests, will show its eco-friendly bedding line, which features two castor oil-based foam layers and a cover made of Tencel, a cellulose fiber that uses nano-technology to provide for superior moisture absorption, the company says.
Italian bedding producer Magniflex is adding more beds with removable covers, and is expanding its quick ship program. “We are taking significant steps to help retailers who in this economy are particularly pressed financially,” said Marco Magni, global sales director. “With a very small investment they can add new floor models, and when orders are placed we can have product delivered to customers' doorsteps within a week.”
Pure LatexBliss is showing its line of mattresses, CustomFit pillow tops and pillows in its new permanent showroom, IHFC M-535. “We are excited to be in High Point long term and we feel fortunate to be able to be on the bedding floor,” said Kurt Ling, CEO. “High Point proved very important to our distribution last fall and we consider it to be an excellent investment.”
Also returning to High Point is Shifman Mattresses, a high-end producer showing a limited-edition model at what it calls a “value price point” of $1,499. That two-sided bed features tack-and-jump quilting. Shifman also is showing a new latex collection retailing from $2,199 to $3,999.
Five Star Mattress, owned by Serta's parent, is emphasizing “true luxury” in a collection of 14 innerspring models, retailing from $599 to $1,299.
