BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Ikea will open a 346,000-square-foot store here June 18, the 35th U.S. store for the Sweden-based Top 100 company.
The store will include 50 room settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a 450-seat restaurant — with views of the lower Manhattan skyline and Statue of Liberty — serving Swedish specialties.
Family-friendly features will include baby care rooms, preferred parking and play areas throughout the store. Ikea also will offer home delivery, kitchen installation and design consultation services.
The project includes a 6.5-acre public waterfront esplanade and several transit options, including ferry service from lower Manhattan, a bus stop and shuttles to nearby subway stations and downtown Brooklyn. The retailer is hiring more than 500 people to work at the store.
