Smith's closing two Louisville-area stores

Will continue to operate one store
LOUISVILLE, KY. — Smith's Furniture here is liquidating and closing two of three area stores, citing tough business conditions, according to a report by First Business of Louisville.

The stores closing on Preston Highway in Louisville and in Clarksville, Ind., combine for about 50,000-square-feet. The retailer will continue to operate its 37,000-square-foot showroom on Shelbyville Road in Louisville, the report said. Smith's closed one other store earlier this year.

"At some point, when things get a little bit better, we'll entertain the thought of opening another store if necessary," Executive Vice President Jack Kabazie told the paper.
