John Wayne-licensed collection on the horizon

Newport Beach, Calif. — An American legend is tossing his cowboy hat into the home furnishings ring as a licensing group plans to develop a John Wayne collection.
Wayne Enterprises, the owner of the John Wayne brand, has signed marketing and consulting firm RWG Licensing to assist it in identifying and securing product partnerships in furniture and accessories.
"Consumer awareness of John Wayne is universal and his appeal remains extremely broad," said Steve Regan, RWG principal. "It's an ideal time to focus on an iconic, all-American brand in the home furnishings category."
RWG boasts a track record of building brands via licensing with clients such as Dick Idol, World Vineyards and Cabana Joe's. The firm has worked with manufacturers such as Klaussner, Surya Rugs, Shadow Mountain, Pacific Coast Lighting and 2 Day Designs.
The firm will seek out compatible manufacturers that could provide furniture like case goods, occasional and upholstery, as well as lighting, tabletop accessories, floor coverings and top-of-bed linens.
