Verlo Mattress Factory
Fort Atkinson, Wis. — Verlo Mattress Factory Stores has hired Scott Turke as director of merchandising/advertising and sales promotions at its corporate headquarters.
Turke has worked in product management, advertising, sales promotions, marketing communications, direct marketing, commercial printing, Internet marketing, trade show marketing and sales training. Most recently, he was national sales account manager for the Journal Broadcast Group in Green Bay, Wis.
At Verlo, Turke will assist in the design and development of retail and merchandising standards for company retail programs and services. This will include point-of-purchase, décor, signage, product merchandising, staff member appearance, hospitality and selling interactions and retail promotions.

Mattress Firm
Houston — Specialty mattress retailer Mattress Firm has hired Christine Brinkley as vice president of human resources.
In this role, Brinkley will be responsible for supporting the company's rapid growth through establishing employee-focused programs to sustain the overall strategic business plan and company objectives.
"Christine is a terrific addition to Mattress Firm and we are fortunate to welcome her to our corporate management team," said Steve Stagner, president and chief operating officer. "She brings with her over 20 years of experience and a proven track record of demonstrated ability to partner with senior executives and lead, execute and develop her staff in category leading retailers. Prior to joining Mattress Firm, Brinkley served as vice president of human resources for Academy Sports and Outdoors, where she was responsible for creating a centralized human resources support office for 13,000 associates in 11 states. Before that, she served as senior consultant for Shell Oil/Penzoil. Her experience also includes human resources positions at Randall's Food Markets and sporting goods retailer Oshman's.
