Soltex acquires Value Ticking

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, April 20, 2008

Greenville, S.C. — Bedding supplier Soltex has acquired ticking vendor Value Ticking.

Soltex President Paolo Barberis Canonico said the acquisition expands the Greenville-based company's product portfolio.

"The combination of these two companies and product lines will enable Soltex to meet the need of any customer, whether it is promotional goods or top-of-the-line products," he said.

A number of key Value Ticking executives will join Soltex as part of the acquisition. Bruce Beckert, formerly president of Value Ticking, will be in charge of sourcing and purchasing. Gayden Truluck, formerly executive vice president of Value Ticking, will handle special projects and work on national accounts. Also joining from Value Ticking is Ernie Whitner, who will be the purchasing agent at Soltex.

"Consolidation has been taking place in our industry for a while now," Beckert said. "Retailers, manufacturers and suppliers have been in repositioning modes and combining resources to be more efficient. Globalization has been the key factor in these decisions. We are very excited about the opportunity of these two companies together."

Susan Jones remains controller of Soltex, and Larry Starkey remains Soltex's vice president of sales and marketing.

Soltex, owned by Pratrivero Spa, is a global leader in the manufacturing of stitchbond and specialty fabrics, the company said. Its product lines include its new Soster III fire-retardant stitchbond fabric.

Soltex will utilize Value Ticking's warehouse in Welcome, N.C., through the end of this year. Value Ticking was based in Welcome.
