Pearl River, La. — Rooms To Go has acquired 60 acres here for an 858,000-square-foot distribution center and outlet store, an estimated $45 million project.
The Seffner, Fla.-based company said the 818,000-square-foot distribution center will serve Gulf Coast and four stores in Louisiana — in Baton Rouge, Metairie, Gretna and Covington. It will deliver to customers from Panama City, Fla., to Baton Rouge and allows RTG to offer expanded next-day delivery in the area.
Construction on the project, which includes a 40,000-square-foot outlet, will begin this spring and is expected to be completed in the fall of 2009.
Jeff Seaman, CEO of the Top 100 company with more than 130 stores, said the land acquisition shows the retailer's commitment to rebuilding Louisiana post- Hurricane Katrina.
"This acquisition will allow us to strengthen our presence in the Southeast and continue to provide top-level customer service to one of our most important commerce hubs as well as strengthen our community involvement in one of our key markets," Seaman said.
