Carpenter, Linke among those gone

NEW HAMBURG, Ontario — Case goods importer Magnussen Home has downsized its marketing and public relations staff, cutting seven jobs at its headquarters here and its High Point satellite office.
Ron Carpenter, vice president of marketing and business development, and Brian Linke, director of marketing services, are among those gone. Nathan Cressman, vice president of merchandising and design, will take over many of their responsibilities with supervision from Don Essenberg, executive vice president and chief marketing officer.
Some marketing work will be outsourced to Crobar, an advertising agency that has been working with the company.
Like many companies, Magnussen Home, which has about 300 employees, is looking to eliminate redundancies and cut costs, said Richard Magnussen, president and CEO.
Before joining Magnussen, Carpenter had a consulting business. He said he will continue to work with Magnussen as a consultant and is considering whether to get back into consulting full-time. Essenberg said Carpenter’s strength is in business strategy, and that the company will continue to build on the three-year plan developed during his tenure.
