IFDA-NY elects Klein president

New York — The New York Chapter of The International Furnishings and Design Assn. has elected Maureen Klein, a marketing specialist for Designer Showhouses, as 2008 president. The group has also formed a new board of directors.
Klein took the reins from Susan Hirsh, who was president for the last two years.
Klein has been an editor of several home furnishings/DIY publications. She has been a member of IFDA for 13 years and has served on the board as vice president of special events, financial resources and membership.
"One of our top priorities for 2008 is to generate membership and awareness among students and to help students navigate the world of the home furnishings industry," said Klein.
In addition to Klein, the chapter's executive board members are Penny Sikalis, president-elect; Susan Hirsh, adviser and past president; Agnes Freas, treasurer; and Susan Slotkis, secretary.
Vice presidents are Cynthia Furlong and Glenda Guerri, awards and recognition; Kerry Burke and Nicole Caucino, education; Su Hilty, educational foundation; Betsy Nichol, financial resources; Kitty Cox and Mervyn Kaufman, membership; Michelle Slovak, membership retention; Melabee Miller, publications; Maggie Hoehn and Wendy Silverstein, public relations; Cathy Guterman and Adam Levine, special events; and B. Harry Zupnik, technology.
Directors at large include Christine Ness, educational foundation; Claire K. Coleman, events; Linda Kulla, finance; Hermine Mariaux, future directions; and Rose G. Mancusi, public relations.
Rosemarie Hittmeyer is office administrator.
