Weir's Furniture names new executives, board members
November 5, 2013,
Dallas-based Weir’s Furniture’s board members are Amy Fullerton, left, Craig Kilgore, Brooks Weir, Blake Weir, Todd Moore, Patsy Moore, Robin Pou, James Denison and Brad Weir.
They replace Moore's brother Mark Moore, who resigned earlier this year from the top posts. The four-store, family-owned company also named new board members, including its first from outside the family.
Todd Moore, the youngest grandchild of founder J. Ray Weir, has been involved with Weir's Furniture for more than 25 years, most recently as chief creative director.
"I am deeply honored to be serving our customers and our associates in this role," he said in a release. "This is an exciting time for the company. Above all, the board is committed to maintaining the identity and core values that have been the heart of Weir's since my grandfather founded the company in 1948."
Kilgore, formerly the manager of Weir's flagship furniture store on Knox Street in Dallas, has been with the company since 1989.
Moore said he and Kilgore are candidates for their positions long term, but said the company also is in the midst of an extensive search process to identify candidates and ensure Weir's is well positioned "to go to market more efficiently and proactively."
J. Ray Weir's granddaughter, Amy Fullerton, and grandson, Blake Weir, have been appointed to the retailer's board.
And for the first time, Weir's added two non-family board members - James Denison, founder and principal of ministry Denison Forum on Truth and Culture, and Robin Pou, a Dallas based writer, speaker and certified executive coach.
They join board and family members Patsy Moore, Brad Weir and Brooks Weir.
Weir's operates stores in Dallas, Plano, Southlake and Farmers Branch, Texas.
