High Point Market teams with Olioboard to find ninth Style Spotter

HIGH POINT — The High Point Market has eight Style Spotters for this fall's show and is partnering with Olioboard for an online contest to choose a ninth.

Olioboard is an interior design-focused social media website that allows users to create online room settings using a library of more than 100,000 products.

High Point's Style Spotters program, launched at the October 2011 market, selects several home fashion trendsetters to present top market products and trends on Pinterest. The Spotters also present exhibitors with signs promoting their selection and featuring a QR code and URL for the market Pinterest board.

Market attendees participate by voting on pinboards and products, by generating "likes" or by re-pinning, according to market officials.

"We wanted to have even more interaction with our home furnishings communities, and this crowdsourcing contest will allow the market community to select our next Style Spotter," said Cheminne Taylor-Smith, High Point Market Authority vice president. "Olioboard is a perfect site for this contest because it allows members to create 2D and 3D room designs, while highlighting their own style viewpoint. Voters will be able to vote daily for the person that really showcases an eye for design, which is what the Style Spotters are all about."

To be considered for the ninth Style Spotter position, complete a form at http://olioboard.com/style_spotters_form. The contest is open to interior designer, retailer and media attendees of the October High Point Market. All nominees must have a social media presence. Nominations will be accepted through July 23.

A panel will select 15 finalists who will create digital moodboards and room designs using a collection of product photos from the April Market.

Finalist will have one week to create their boards and can create multiple boards. Designs must be complete by July 31. All market attendees may vote on the finalists' boards Aug. 1-22. The design with the most votes will win.

The winner will join the fall roster of Style Spotters, which already includes:

• Traci Zeller, Traci Zeller's Blog, @TraciZeller (spring 2012 winner)
• Gretchen Aubuchon, Fashion + Decor, @fashionanddecor
• Lori Dennis, DesignCamp.com, @loridennisinc
