Designer Thom Filicia will participate in the upcoming Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club Decorator Show House.
Celebrity interior designer Filicia, who has licensed rug collections with Safavieh, will participate in the 40th annual Show House, which will benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. He will incorporate his licensed products in the space, including a new eco-friendly hemp and jute rug from the Thom Filicia Home collection for Safavieh.
The house will be open May 16 to June 14 at The Aldyn on Riverside Boulevard in New York City.
Safavieh and Filicia are running a promotion on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest to help boost traffic to the Show House. The contest asks dealers, designers and consumers to guess which rug from Filicia's new collection he will use to decorate the Kips Bay interior. Correct answers will be entered in a random drawing for one of Filicia's hemp and jute rugs.
The winner will be announced on May 15.
"We are so proud that Thom has chosen one of his Safavieh rugs to showcase at Kips Bay," said Arash Yaraghi, a principal with Safavieh. "This is one of the most important events in the interior design business: It blends decorative arts with the finest design talents in the world, and to have our product on display is a distinct honor."
The hand-knotted hemp and jute rug collection includes seven designs and aims to bring a transitional and colorful look to the ecofriendly rug category, according to Safavieh. Rugs in the collection are made in India. A 6 by 9 rug retails for $1,199.
"Each of these new sustainable rugs encompasses a combination of global, ethnic, and modern influences that put this collection at the forefront of today's trends," Filicia said. "All of the rugs in the line use a rich gradation and detailed layering of color, giving them a beautiful ease and approachability juxtaposed with strong and smart patterns."
