Orian’s “Big City” to Hit New York Market

Anderson, S.C. – Domestic area and accent rug manufacture Orian Rugs is coming to the Big Apple with its new Big City collection for the New York Fashions Market.
Its latest shag interpretation, Orian’s Big City collection employs “a very unique yarn system” that calls for the combination of thick 10,000-denier and thin 1,800-denier yarns to create handmade look, explained Paul Sullivan, svp, sales and marketing.
“It has shaggy look and feel, but it’s much thicker and responds not only to touch and feel but underfoot,” Sullivan said. “It has a tremendous hand-knotted, handmade look for a very affordable price of $179 for 5-by-8.”
Big City, which has been in development for the past year, encompasses 20 patterns that span transitional to contemporary looks.
Another headliner for market from Orian is its new roster of designs being added to the Shakespeare collection of 1.5-million-point rugs. Sullivan said the company created “a very cool, modern creel” that incorporates earth tones and an array of blues. A 5-by-8 is set to retail for $199.
All of Orian Rugs’ area and accent rug collections are made at its facilities here and are made of 100% polypropylene.
“We are anticipating our customers coming to market looking for fashion. They are experiencing decent sales so far in the first two months this year in their sales, despite what a lot of our economists have predicted,” Sullivan said. “Customers are looking to update their bedrooms and family rooms affordably, so we are bringing to the marketplace fashion as well as function at an affordable price.”
