Hotel squeeze expected for February market
Susan Andrews -- Furniture Today, June 2, 2006
New York – The Home Fashions Product Association is urging retailers and suppliers planning to attend the February 2007 New York Home Textiles Market to book their hotel rooms as soon as possible.
The market week dates – Feb. 12-16 – overlap with those of the International Tory Fair, which draws 17,000 visitors. The toy district resides just a few blocks south of the Fifth Avenue home textiles corridor, and toy attendees have already booked huge blocks of hotel rooms in the area, according to Art Engle, whose Hillside Travel agency usually secures 400-plus rooms for home textiles buyers and sellers during market weeks.
Dianne Morris, president of the HFPA, said in a notice to members: "We highly recommend you advise your customers now of availability for key accommodation to ensure they do not experience difficulties reserving hotel spaces."
