Mattress Firm opens 500th store

Bedding specialist has nearly doubled store count in past two years

HOUSTON — Mattress Firm opened its 500th store Monday in San Antonio, the 30th store for the bedding specialty retailer in that market.

It was the Houston-based chain’s 43rd store opening this year. The company has nearly doubled its store count in the past two years through organic growth and acquisitions.

“The opening of our 500th store is extremely exciting for all of us at Mattress Firm and it would not have been possible to reach this milestone without the hard work and support of a tremendous team in both our corporate office in Houston and in our markets across the country,” said Gary Fazio, Mattress Firm CEO. The company now covers 38 markets in 21 states.

He said the retailer has maintained its “commitment to provide an unparalleled shopping experience for our customers and we attribute that focus as an important factor in our success to date and in the future.”

Mattress Firm stores feature brands including Sealy, Simmons, Tempur-Pedic and Select Comfort.

“I believe that 500 stores is just the beginning for us as we continue our effort to expand border-to-border and coast-to-coast,” said Fazio. “There are many markets we are interested in establishing a presence in and we will continue to move forward with our growth plans to expand in current markets and penetrate new ones.”
