Mitchell to join IHFC as CEO
Will move from MMPI in High Point
Joan Gunin -- Furniture Today, June 25, 2008
HIGH POINT — Tom Mitchell has been named president and CEO of the International Home Furnishings Center here, shifting to the Big Building from his longtime post as senior vice president and general manager of Merchandise Mart Properties Inc. in High Point.
Mitchell will start at the IHFC on July 14, according to a press release.
He replaces Tom Lindh, who left the IHFC in May. Retired IHFC executive Bruce Miller has been serving as CEO on an interim basis.
“It is with great pleasure that IHFC welcomes an individual of such great character and integrity into our company,” the showroom building’s board said in a statement. The board called Mitchell “a seasoned professional in the home furnishings showroom business.”
MMPI is the second largest showroom operator in High Point after the IHFC, with Market Square and a number of other properties.
MMPI did not immediately announce who would be replacing Mitchell.
