Seven students win Celia Moh Scholarships
Program encourages home furnishings study

HIGH POINT — Seven college students with an interest in home furnishings have been named recipients of the Celia Moh Scholarship for 2010-2011.This year's winners are William Eatmon, North Carolina State University; Rebecca Gibson, Mississippi State University; Meaghan Leonard, High Point University; Joseph Sadony IV, Kendall College of Art and Design; Shannon Taylor, High Point University; Brian Harris, Appalachian State University; and Martha G. Deans Wharton, East Carolina University.
The academic scholarship covers full-time tuition and fees, room and board and books. The recipients also receive a trip to the High Point Market and internship and career advice as well as access to a network of former scholars who now work in the home furnishings industry.
Scholarship candidates are selected by their universities. They must complete a questionnaire, write a personal essay and provide recommendations and a college transcript. A panel of industry executives selected the winners.
The Celia Moh Scholarship was founded in 2001 by industry veteran Laurence Moh to honor his wife. Laurence Moh is the founder of Universal Furniture and Fine Furniture Design.
