ATLANTA — Simmons Chairman and CEO Charlie Eitel has been named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year in consumer products for the Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee region.
The award, which honors excellence in building and maintaining dynamic, market-leading businesses, was presented to Eitel this week at an awards gala here.
“Ernst & Young is one of the foremost recognized names in business, and I feel very humbled at having been selected for such a distinguished honor as Entrepreneur of the Year,” said Eitel, who joined Simmons in 2000. “Leading a company like Simmons, which is driven by innovation and its people, is a true privilege, and to receive this award for doing the work I love is a definite high point in my career.”
He and other winners from each of 26 regions will be recognized at a black-tie gala hosted by comedian Jay Leno in Palm Springs, Calif., Nov. 15, at which the national awards will be presented.
