LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Joe Hill has announced he will retire as president and chief operating officer of case goods source Wynwood Furniture on Feb. 6, which coincidentally will be his 30th anniversary with the company and its parent, DMI/Flexsteel.
Dan Kennedy, who most recently was president of retailer Belfort Furniture in Dulles, Va., will succeed Hill in leading Wynwood, the company said.
Hill joined DMI in 1984 and held various jobs including vice president finance and chief financial officer and executive vice president of operations.
"Joe excelled in every executive role he assumed at DMI and we thank him for his leadership, dedication and partnership," said Don Dreher, president and CEO of DMI. "We also wish Joe and his family all the best in his well-deserved retirement."
Hill said he was fortunate at "to have had the privilege to be on a team of such bright and resourceful people of such high character.... I will forever cherish the friendships forged with fellow employees and sales reps, customers, and U.S. and Asian suppliers. The leadership I worked under has been nothing short of outstanding."
Kennedy had been with Belfort since 2007 and was promoted to president in 2009. He has 25 years of industry experience, according to Flexsteel. In a release, the company said his primary focus will be on growing the Wynwood business, and providing the level of service for Wynwood that customers have grown to expect from Flexsteel.
