WASHINGTON — Some 14,000 pieces of Ladybug-themed children's outdoor furniture is being recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission according to reports by WLTX.
Among the items included in the recall are red ladybug-themed, metal-framed outdoor furniture sold under the Leisure Ways brand. The items being recalled are camp chairs, folding chairs, moon chairs, double-seat swing chairs and a patio set that includes two chairs, a table and umbrella.
Each seat contains a tracking label that includes the production date, "December/2012" and the words, "Distributed by: Far East Brokers and Consultants, Inc." The CPSC said the red surface paint on the furniture contained excessive levels of lead, which constitutes a violation of the federal lead paint standard.
The furniture was sold at wholesale distributors, grocery stores and drug stores for between $10 and $50.
The CPSC advises consumer to take the recalled furniture away from children and return items to the place of purchase for a full refund. Additional information is available by calling Far East Brokers and Consultants, Inc. at (888) 753-9040 or by visiting www.fareastbrokers.com and clicking on the "Safety Recall" link.
