FabricTech2000 expands distribution base

By David Perry -- Furniture Today, July 28, 2008

CEDAR GROVE, N.J. — FabricTech2000, a provider of mattress and pillow protection products, continues to expand its operations and says the mattress protection industry remains on the ascent.

Officials of the company, which is based here, said FabricTech is adding retailers to its roster of clients and also is adding sales representatives.

The company recently passed the 700-door store count with the addition of the Mattress4You chain in Atlanta. Among its other customers are Top 100 chains Sleepy's, R.C. Willey, Value City Furniture and Ashley Furniture HomeStores.

“Dealers are positioning our product as a premium solution for mattress and pillow protection in their stores,” said Arnold Hershbain, president of FabricTech2000. “Because we provide exceptional training and support to the dealers and their retail sales associates, there is usually an attractive spike in accessory sales after our products reach the floor.”

Hershbain said FabricTech2000's products are particularly well suited to specialty sleep beds.

“The unique construction of our products provides the ultimate in protection, without altering the feel of the mattress in any way,” he said. “This is particularly important in visco and latex products. The consumer is making the purchase based on a particular feel when they try the mattress in the store.”

The company uses a three-step protection system. An OmniGuard Ultra outer layer absorbs perspiration, moisture and stains, while a waterproof InnerShield membrane keeps liquids from reaching the mattress by wicking them away. The products are quiet and cool, Hershbain said.

The company recently added sales representatives in Tennessee, Florida and California.

In addition to serving residential furniture retailers, FabricTech2000 is a supplier to the hospitality trade, a growing market.

The company recently placed its products in the Newport Marriott, a 319-room luxury hotel in Rhode Island.

“The hospitality industry is a key market for premium bed and pillow protection products as they make a greater effort to assure a healthier night's sleep for their guests,” Hershbain said. “The OmniGuard Ultra fabric we use in our products is specially designed to handle the rigors of hotel use, so we have seen a strong interest in this product.”

Founded in 1992, FabricTech2000 manufactures its products in the United States.
