Links country with U.S., Canada

HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam — Specialized furniture carrier Worldwide Logistics has teamed with the logistics arm of Magnussen Home to develop a logistics program for the home furnishings industry that links Vietnam with the United States and Canada.
The joint venture combines Magnussen’s Asian logistics expertise with Worldwide Logistics’ domestic capabilities. It is available to retailers, importers and manufacturers involved with direct sourcing, product development, quality control, warehousing and logistics.
“We are very excited about marrying our domestic capabilities with the knowledge and expertise that Magnussen has gained in Asia over the past 27 years,” said Eric Clarke, president of Worldwide Logistics. “Together, we are bringing a superior product to the marketplace.”
Magnussen operates a 232,000-square-foot distribution center in Ho Chi Minh City and soon will open a second facility there that covers 400,000 square feet.
“Magnussen Home is excited to work with Worldwide Logistics to manage the supply chain and thereby bring about a greater number of turns and reductions in inventory for our retailers and suppliers,” said Richard Magnussen, president and CEO.
Worldwide Logistics was formed earlier this year through the merger of six specialized furniture carrier — Four Truckers of Morganton, N.C.; Furniture Transportation Systems of Pomona, Calif.; Milwaukee Delivery Service of Jefferson, Wis.; Palmer Transport of Ontario, Calif.; Rudisill Transportation of Hickory, N.C.; and Warren Trucking of Martinsville, Va.
