MFA helps raise funds for patient

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 17, 2008

The Metropolitan Furnishing Assn. of New Jersey in conjunction with the Dean Michael Clarizio Cancer Foundation raised $5,000 at its recent golf outing fundraiser at the Knoll Country Club here to benefit a cancer patient.

This year's proceeds were donated to Joe Valentine, 38, of Cream Ridge, N.J., who has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma.

More than 160 industry members, friends and family members took part.

The Clarizio foundation was created three years ago to assist families with the financial burdens typically associated with long-term illnesses including cancer, as well as with cancer research. Dean Michael Clarizio died of cancer in 2005 at the age of 34. His older brother, Chris Clarizio, a sales representative for Klaussner Home Furnishings, is president of the foundation.
