La-Z-Boy salutes owners of top-performing galleries

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 17, 2008

La-Z-Boy honored the owners of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores that had the best sales growth in 2007 in an awards ceremony earlier this year.

La-Z-Boy also awarded its Retail Partner of the Year to R. Byron Brown III, owner of the La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries in Augusta, Ga., for his dedication to providing exceptional customer service and bringing comfort into the shopping experience at his stores.

Four stores owned by Ed Breunig III and Ron Hernandez were among the Top 10. They are in Glendale, Chandler, Mesa and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Two other owners or operators were each honored for a pair of stores —Mohammed Moussa for stores in Edmonton, Alberta, on 101st Street and 109th Street, and Cam Davidson for stores in Calgary, Alberta, on 11th Street and Northland Avenue.

Also in the Top 10 were stores of Don and Becky Gruner in Reno, Nev., and Marion Stasiak in Annapolis, Md.

Top-performing stores in a mid-sized market (250,000 to 1 million population) were:

  • Reno, Nev., Don and Becky Gruner.

  • Fort Collins, Colo., Jason Johnston.

Top-performing small market (under 250,000) stores were:

  • Nanaimo, British Columbia, Bernie Willock and Anthony Gray.

  • Kelowna, British Columbia, Jack Gwartney.
