Future market dates clarified
Chris Schultz -- Furniture Today, February 7, 2008
New York – With the Home Fashions Products Association (HFPA) having just announced the shift in future market dates for the New York Home Fashions Market, colloquially known as “market week,” to a March/September schedule, some in the textile industry are confused.
The outline of both the HFPA event and the GLM-operated New York International Gift Fair/New York Home Textiles Market Week at the Javits, 230 5th Avenue and 7 W. 34th Street follows.
The new HFPA March/September format will begin the second half of this year when the showroom market will take place from Monday, Sept. 15 through Friday, Sept. 19. (Dates had previously been set as Aug. 10-14.)
Dates for 2009 have been set for March 9-13 and Sept. 14-18.
Meanwhile, dates for the luxury-oriented New York International Gift Fair/New York Home Textiles Market Week, produced by GLM and anchored at the Javits Center, stand as previously announced: Aug. 14-24, 2008; and Jan. 22-29, 2009.
GLM vp Penny Sikalis said her organization was disappointed about the HFPA time shift, but noted, “We also will continue to work with HFPA toward unified market dates in future.”
