Tayo Onadein starts new decorative fabric company

Former JLA designer launches Hometex

Staff Staff -- Furniture Today, August 25, 2008

NEW YORK - Tayo Onadein, former vice president of design for JLA Home Fabrics, has formed a new decorative fabric company called Hometex Decorative Fabrics Hangzhou & Co., Ltd.

"I decided to start my own fabric business with a partner in China," said Onadein.
"Fabric styling is what I love the most."

He said his Chinese partner is Bill Xu, who is the general manager of a family fabric mill.

The company is based in China and has a design staff there. "We will soon open a North Carolina office," Onadein said.

The company's first line will debut at the Showtime fabric show in High Point in December and will focus first on upholstery fabrics with some 50 to 55 designs. Later, the company will do bedding-weight fabrics, he said.
